Scripting the hardware design flow is a very essential need and there are many advantages seen for the hardware design flow: Reproducibility of p&r runs, reusability for the IP repositories, AMD tool release management and also the step into a CI-flow. The AMD Vivado™ tool suite provides many capabilities and often not seen when the designer works in the GUI-based Vivado™ design suite. This workshop will lead you through various steps as project management, synthesis and implementation flow management, custom IP repository management, and getting the required skills on using the AMD TCL scripting more, and more individual adapted to your needs. Especially if recurring and incremental process steps occur in FPGA development, i.e. like for debugging, it needs preservations of partial code, compilation netlists, IP settings and a reproducing behavior. Then it is obvious that custom scripting is essential to improve the methodology of hardware development.
