This power workshop combines the contents of the PLC2 workshops “Compact Versal ACAP for Hardware Designers” and “Compact Versal ACAP for Software Designers”. In the course, the necessary and in-depth knowledge is imparted to understand the architecture and the workflow for the Versal ACAP technology and how to work with the tools. For the hardware developer, the Vivado IP integrator and the Vivado workflow is particularly relevant, for the software developer the Vitis tool suite environment, which also includes various methods of hardware compilation. Methods of application development depending on the OS systems, debugging and system simulation are described. In the team-based work of hardware and software developers, the course teaches how system integration with the tools from Vivado and Vitis can be used productively. This is also important insofar when abstract s/w methods might not meet requirement so that the hardware developer work on a solution in the lower level of abstraction.
